OHR - Week 3, Day 2

Great run tonight. Ran at around 8 PM. It was pretty cool outside, so cool that I was actually chilly while doing my 5-minute warm-up walk. Once I got going, though, it was perfect running weather. I was solo (I slipped out the sliding glass door when L wasn't looking). I had to run an errand (literally!) during my run. Had a Redbox DVD to return by 9 PM. Aside - I totally agree with my friend Michelle that Redbox is the greatest invention ever. I use it as a reward for good grocery store behavior for J. Good behavior = picking a movie out of Redbox. At $1.05, you can't beat it! I can't imagine how Blockbuster and Movie Gallery and the ilk are even still in business with the advent of Redbox and Netflix. Seriously. How are they not bankrupt? Anyway, I digress. Back to my run. Ran into the grocery store and stopped my stopwatch while I returned the DVD. It probably took about 15 seconds. Then ran back out and continued on my way. Ran to the local middle school from the grocery store and ran once around the track and headed home. I must confess I ran for 30:55 today, maybe even a tad bit longer since I had a stopwatch malfunction when doing the whole DVD return. Thought I had restarted it when I left the store but had not, and it took me a little bit to realize that. I was not yet to the corner where I wanted to stop when the clock struck 30 minutes, so I kept going until I was. Concentrated on running faster for a longer period of time as I approached my endpoint and then stepped it up even more with a sprint at the end. Felt GREAT at my endpoint. Definitely could have run for longer if I needed to.

It certainly didn't hurt that I downloaded a couple new tunes on the Shuffle tonight. I was getting bored with some of my selections. Some of my new running music:
  1. Maneater - Nelly Furtado
  2. Shut Up and Drive - Rihanna
  3. U + Ur Hand - Pink
  4. I Kissed a Girl - Katy Perry
  5. Bootylicious - Destiny's Child

I think that's it. Now, my disclaimer is that this is my RUNNING music. I do have other musical interests other than female anthems, but for some reason I just love to sweat to that kind of music. Get Me Bodied by Beyonce is a current fave, and of course I still love Mary J. Blige's Just Fine. Really wondering if I am ever going to get sick of that song.

Did some checking before trying to find a 10K around here that is in late July or August. So far no luck. Tons of 5Ks coming up. In September in particuar there are three local ones. However, I need a 10K on my calendar to inspire me and keep me honest. Might have to hit the road to find one. We'll see.

Now let's see if I can actually do my third run of the week this Saturday. Stay tuned! Next week is week 4, the week I actually start to build up time.

Now that's being efficient.

It's always nice when you end a run and feel like you could just keep running. It makes it fel like you're making progress. :)
